WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Testimonials from our Clients.

I retained Brendalyn and Bhavana Learning Group to support my transition from CEO of a non-profit organization I founded 10 years ago.

Working with Brendalyn supported me during a challenging time for both my organization and me. She helped me prioritize and focus on what was important, gave me concrete and relevant strategies to address challenges, and shared useful resources, tools, and perspectives. One of the best investments I could have made!

Maimuna A., CEO, Teach for Bangladesh.

Tony has a unique ability to hold the space for whoever and whatever you are working through. He made it safe for me to bring my full vulnerability and unknowing for exploration and play.

— Tina M., Senior Consultant, Organization Systems and Design, Seattle/San Francisco

When I arrived at Harvard, I was drowning in imposture syndrome. I was unsure how to manage the University’s expectations. Working with Bhavana Learning Group and Brendalyn King exceeded my expectations. By meditating and completing my day, I planned days, weeks, and months in advance to avoid overbooking. I have found a sense of freedom within who I am and feel better prepared to handle the responsibility and experience of being a Harvard faculty member.

2022, Myisha Eatmon, Assistant Professor, Harvard University, AAAS and History Client for 6 months

My language and understanding of situations have greatly improved, and I feel I can make crucial decisions because of my experience with Brendalyn. Completing my day practice has really allowed me to ensure nothing falls through the cracks and I am using my time most efficiently. The practice of pausing and meditation have both been helpful tools during stressful situations.

2022 — Jenna Barone, Operations Manager, Client for 6 months.

“Complete the day” was a revelation. This allowed me to take stock of what needed to be done and put it out of my mind.

A new awareness of my views as a coach.

Each month after attending the Coaches Salon, I walk away with a new awareness of my views as a coach and practices. I can set aside my view and become curious about the client’s view.

Welcoming community …

The Coaches Salon has supported my work as a coach by being involved with a like-minded community of coaches who challenge, create, and learn together. It is a beautifully welcoming community.

This course deepened my understanding and perspective on listening.

“This class was beautifully designed to start with clarity and build upon what we were learning as we were ready to hear it.  As a coach trainer, I thought I had a pretty good handle on my listening. Going through this course deepened my understanding and perspective on listening in a way that is transforming both how I teach and how I coach.  It’s a challenging course, which makes it all the more valuable.”

What learners say about the Small Sangha

— “Bhavana Learning Group has provided me unprecedented access to Buddhist Psychology to support my personal and professional development, including my work with clients.

— I came into the Small Sangha with a simple, general interest in Buddhism. Unexpectedly, I left with a deep sense of myself, my path, and my future.

— Tony’s impactful and engaging teaching style, including the context he provided for teachings, combined with the enthusiasm of fellow learners, made each session powerful and insightful.

— I would not have been able to consume and integrate Chogyam Trungpa’s teachings in this 600+ page text without the Small Sangha.

— My relationship with change is shifting from coping to adapting to change. My mindset is shifting from individual to interdependence. My self-reflection practice is deepening my listening and thoughtfulness.

— I learned that practice is our ground that we keep coming back to. That practice shapes how we arrive in any situation.

— It can be funny to see how something has grabbed my attention and my sanity. Observing these phenomena through study, meditation and awareness training has given me a new ability to listen, participate and let go with greater awareness.

— Participating in Small Sangha has opened my practice in new, challenging, and exciting ways. It’s helped me deepen my commitments; expand my understanding of the dharma; embrace curiosity and not knowing; and see possibilities and truths that were not available to me before beginning this work.

How Learners Experience the Practice Field

The date before each item represents when each person joined the Practice Field.

2019: The Practice Field is the best Sangha for anyone beginning to form their meditation practice. The benefits I have taken away show up in my work with clients and have a ripple effect on my interactions with others. Specifically, focusing on the 7 points of my posture allows me to bring a framework from mindfulness into the small moments of my day-to-day life.

2022: It’s opened me up to practicing in community, to being with others in a new and different way, and given me a consistent place for exploring and deepening my practice.

2022: The structure of the field allows for two kinds of learning for me. One that comes from repeating the view and parties each week. Allowing for seeing beyond a cursory interaction. The second comes from listening to others’ experiences and periodic teaching by Tony Zampella. Both of these stretch my understanding.

2019: The PF has created and supported a weekly ritual for me. It has expanded my meditation practice and provides grounding in my week – like a cross-over point to complete the last week and design the upcoming week.

2019: I am so grateful for the members of the Practice Field Community. I look forward to practicing, connecting, and learning with them weekly and sharing experiences and discoveries in a supportive environment. – member since 2019

2019: The PF supports me in the practice of coming back and expanding my awareness. It provides me a place to practice the dharma and deepen our Buddhist psychology studies.

2020: I use the memory of the experience with my work with clients. The caring calmness, the expressed experiences of positive impact on the individuals in the weekly group are often in my awareness during the week while I’m coaching clients.  Taking a breath, what am I noticing? What is the client noticing? This invites a reset of points of view.

2021: I find meditation and mindfulness to be mostly solitary endeavors. The Practice Field provides a community that holds me in my practice.

2021: Since joining the Practice Field, I have a higher level of awareness when it comes to thoughts, feelings, and internal experiences throughout my day-to-day living. I notice quickly when I am distracted and make time between activities and engagements to sit and spend time with myself, whether for a few deep breaths or a longer meditation.

2021: My relationship with my inner self is deepening, and I feel more present than ever before.

2019: “The community, the commitment, and the intention of this practice is a rare find. Certainly, a unique opportunity for anyone looking to expand their effectiveness in all areas of their life.”

2019: It has also provided me the opportunity and space to lead meditations and expand my competency and practice.
